In a heartening development, the 137 schoolchildren who were abducted from Kuriga, Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State, and subsequently released, have arrived at the Government House in Kaduna.

The release of these children was officially announced by the Kaduna State Government on Sunday, as conveyed in a statement issued by Governor Uba Sani.

In the statement, Governor Sani expressed his gratitude and relief, stating, “I wish to announce that our Kuriga school children have been released.”

Furthermore, the governor clarified the number of abducted schoolchildren, confirming that a total of 137 children were taken on March 7, 2024. This clarification corrects earlier reports which had erroneously stated that 287 children were abducted.

As the freed schoolchildren arrive at the Government House in Kaduna, this symbolic moment marks a significant step towards their reunion with their families and the restoration of their safety and well-being. The images of their arrival serve as a poignant reminder of the resilience and hope that endure even in the face of adversity.
