President Bola Tinubu convened a meeting on Monday with key figures from the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting, attended by the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming election, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate, Hon Dennis Idahosa, aimed to address lingering disagreements within the party.

While specific details of the discussions remain undisclosed, sources indicate that one resolution emerged: Idahosa, the running mate, was urged to withdraw his protest litigation against Okpebholo’s candidacy.

Recall that controversy initially marred the primary election, which eventually led to Okpebholo’s emergence as the candidate. Initially, Idahosa was declared the candidate by the Governor Hope Uzodimma-led committee. However, the first round of primaries was deemed inconclusive by the National Working Committee (NWC) due to various irregularities.

Notable attendees at the meeting, held in the President’s office, included the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Senator Adams Oshiomhole representing Edo North Senatorial District, Senator Matthew Urhoghide, former representative of Edo South in the Senate, among others.
