Authorities in Borno State have confirmed that a suicide bomber injured two individuals in the Biu Local Government Area on Sunday evening.

ASP Daso Nahum, the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), verified the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday.

Nahum disclosed that the event unfolded around 8 p.m. when Muslim worshippers were engaged in their night prayers.

The male suicide bomber, who was believed to be en route to the mosque, activated the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near the roundabout, leading to his death.

Following the explosion, two bystanders sustained injuries and were expeditiously conveyed to a medical facility for urgent medical attention.

A coordinated effort involving security personnel was promptly initiated to address the situation and restore tranquility to the area, as stated by Nahum.

The spokesperson urged the public to heighten their vigilance, particularly during Ramadan when many Muslims engage in late-night prayers.

“Individuals must remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the security agencies promptly,” he emphasized.
