Following a landslide in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo yesterday (2 April), the province authorities reported on Monday that at least 20 people had died and a number more were still missing.

The incident occurred in the locality of Bolowa, in Masisi territory in Congo’s eastern North Kivu province, “Following this tragic incident, twenty people… lost their lives and others are missing for which search efforts are ongoing,” the North Kivu governor’s spokesperson said in a statement.

No additional information was provided regarding the landslide’s causes or effects.
