According to Chief Executive Youssef Ahizoune, the Moroccan waste management business Arma is looking for ways to expand in African towns and has ambitions to build a facility for recycling plastic garbage in the Ivory Coast’s capital city Abidjan.

He stated, “The factory is anticipated to be operating within a few months,” adding that agreements with plastic trash providers are nearing completion.

Arma manages the waste in 16 Moroccan cities, including Rabat, but is hoping to extend its operations around the continent while simultaneously attempting to cut emissions.

Ahizoune stated that reducing the company’s carbon footprint is a top priority, but acknowledged that there are challenges, including the cost of large electric cars and a dearth of charging stations on highways.

The cost of electric trucks would need to fall to the same level as trucks powered by fossil fuels before the corporation could fully electrify, he said.
