US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken began his Middle East tour with a visit to Egypt, where he met on Sunday with a group of young people at the American University in Cairo.

On this occasion, Blinken stressed the key role of Egyptian youth in future diplomatic relations and the importance of the strategic partnership between the United States and Egypt.

In this sense, he recalled that Egypt is a dynamic and young country, given that 60% of the Egyptian population is 25 years old or younger, hence the need to involve the young Egyptian generation in order to advance relations between the two countries.

After Egypt, the American diplomat is scheduled to visit Jerusalem and then Ramallah, from Monday to Tuesday, after meeting with Egyptian President Al-Sissi and his Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri.

This visit aims to use American influence to try to ease tensions in the region.
