In a significant crackdown on banditry, troops from Operation Whirl Punch and Operation Forest Sanity II successfully neutralized two bandits during a clearance operation in the Rijana area of Kachia Local Government Area, Kaduna State. This action took place less than 24 hours after another engagement in the Kachia-Kajuru area resulted in the elimination of five bandits.

According to Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna’s Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, the recent operation in Rijana involved a fierce gun battle, leading to the deaths of two bandits while several others fled with gunshot wounds. The troops recovered substantial weaponry, including three AK-47 rifles, two motorcycles, two AK-47 magazines, 19 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two mobile phones, and two MP3 players.

Governor Uba Sani expressed his satisfaction with the troops’ bravery and efficiency, commending the leadership of Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. TA Lagbaja. The Governor praised the troops’ morale and their commitment to ongoing operations aimed at restoring security in the region.

Operational feedback highlighted that the troops advanced through several locations, including Amale, Gidan Jatau, Gidan Danfulani, and Gidan Duna, without facing resistance. However, upon reaching Gidan Dutse, they engaged with bandits, resulting in the successful neutralization of two criminals and the recovery of various items used by the bandits.

In a statement, Governor Sani congratulated the troops on their successful mission and lauded their leadership and morale. He urged citizens to contribute to security efforts by providing actionable intelligence on bandit movements through the 24-hour Security Operations Room, accessible via the following numbers: 09034000060 and 08170189999.

The recent success follows a Sunday operation where troops of Operation Whirl Punch killed five bandits in the Dantarau area of Kajuru Local Government Area. During a patrol in the Kachia-Kajuru region, the troops encountered the bandits, leading to a decisive confrontation.

These operations underscore the commitment of the Kaduna State Government and its security forces to combatting banditry and ensuring the safety and security of its residents.
