Chinese authorities have captured dozens of escaped crocodiles from a farm in China’s southern Guangdong province last week, according to state media reports on Tuesday.
More than 70 crocodiles escaped near the city of Maoming in Guangdong province after a lake overflowed due to a recent typhoon in the area.
Local authorities launched a massive campaign to capture the crocodiles, and state TV, CCTV, showed scenes of rescue workers pulling crocodiles out of the water using ropes.
Officially, all the escaped crocodiles have been successfully captured, as reported by the state-run newspaper “Beijing News.”
The website of the newspaper published pictures of dozens of crocodiles covered in mud with their mouths taped shut and surrounded by workers holding umbrellas. Among the escaped animals were 69 adult crocodiles and two younger ones.
