The funeral of Dédé Rose Gameli Creppy, who died on June 5th, 2023, at the age of 89, will take place from July 11th to 14th in Lomé and her hometown, Aného. The remains of the last of the “Nana Benzes” will arrive on Friday, and the preparations are making progress.
In the family home in Magnan on the Lomé-Cotonou road, the painters put the last brushstrokes, while the carpenters are busy on the boards and embellish the place. At the Lolan Royal Palace, it’s effervescence. For Princess Kayi Lawson, a member of the Regency Council, Rose Creppy will be entitled to a ceremony worthy of her rank.
“She is a lady who had a very strong personality and who marked the Lolan kingdom through all her actions”, Said Kayi Lawson.
Naa Creppy, as she is known at the Lolan Royal Palace, remained the traditional Minister of Home Affairs and Defense until her death. The only woman in the mini-government who surrounded the kings since 2003, very committed, Naa Creppy enjoyed great respect. For François Lawson-Body, a member of the Council of the Regency, the palace does not forget its career and its history either.
The ceremonies begin in Lomé this Tuesday, July 11th with a vigil at the parish of Saint-Antoine de Hanoukope. And on Friday, she will be buried in her hometown, the first capital of Togo.
