Van Reenen’s Pass has been temporarily closed as a result of six trucks being set ablaze in the early hours of Sunday morning. Arsonists targeted the vehicles before fleeing the scene, leaving behind a trail of destruction. Swift action from firefighting teams managed to extinguish the flames, while authorities have secured the area.

However, traffic flow has been disrupted, with northbound vehicles being stopped at Tugela Plaza and heavy congestion affecting southbound traffic at the top of Van Reenen’s Pass.

The N3 Toll Concession, responsible for managing the road, has urged motorists to postpone their travel plans until the route is reopened. Law enforcement and emergency services are actively working at the scene to ensure the safety of all involved and to restore normal traffic conditions as soon as possible. The incident has prompted an ongoing cleanup operation to clear the affected area and allow for the resumption of normal operations.
