More than three months after the election of the new president Bola Tinubu, justice continues to examine the appeals of the opposition, which denounces irregularities in the ballot. Several assessors and personnel of the electoral commission testified to their experience in the use of BVAs, these electronic machines supposed to record and transmit the results of the vote during the general elections of February 25th.
These people mentioned malfunctions during the transmission of data, if the results of the assembly elections could be downloaded without problem, it often proved impossible to transmit the votes of the presidential election.
Atiku Abubakar, the candidate who came second in this election, claims in his complaint that someone installed a hacker program to intercept and modify the votes in favor of the APC and its candidate at the time of the data transfer between the BVAs and the website of the electoral commission.
Labor Party candidate Peter Obi meanwhile asked to be questioned by technical staff at the Electoral Commission about internet use on Election Day, a request the court has yet to consider.
Counsel for APC and Bola Tinubu argued that this request should have been made much earlier to be valid.
