Pending the expected arrival this Thursday, June 8th, of the Chinese Minister of Housing and Urban and Rural Development, Ni Hong, the Chinese experts in the field present in Libreville for a few days began on Wednesday with their Gabonese colleagues the preparatory work for the ministerial meeting.
The two parties, through this technical meeting, and exchange of experience, thus examined several points which can in particular promote access to housing, construction equipment, and sanitation in cities.
For this working session with the Chinese delegation in Libreville, it was the Secretary General of the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism, Juliette Corinne Skitt, who opened the work on June 7th.
Around the same table, Chinese and Gabonese experts from the habitat, housing, sanitation, building materials, security, and fire issues, among others, working on these points to identify the essential elements that should make it possible to improve the living environment of the Gabonese, to offer them more opportunities in terms of access to housing at a lower cost, but also to sustainable local building materials and also at a reduced price.
This stay of a Chinese delegation, the first after Ali Bongo Ondimba visits China, is part of the continued implementation of the memorandum signed last April in Beijing during this state visit.
Noting that this memorandum aims, among other things, to promote cooperation in housing and urban planning, and to strengthen the relations of brotherhood, friendship, and cooperation between the two countries, Juliette Corine Skitt indicated that ” the opportunity to discuss with counterparts from the People’s Republic of China, a brotherly country that has been able to solve the problems of urbanization by linking traditional techniques and technological innovations”, testifies to the mutual trust between the two peoples.
