Attackers took advantage of the chaos in Khartoum to suppress evidence that could incriminate al-Bashir and his relatives in corruption cases. The courts were responsible for judging them have had their prosecution files and documents disappear. Omar el-Bashir is still missing while members of his entourage continue to make declarations.

Civilian political leaders reacted to this revelation by considering that the attack was “planned”. They also accused al-Bashir’s sympathizers of wanting to destroy evidence and plotting their return to power by taking advantage of the war. Very sensitive documents, which would have been overwhelming for Omar al-Bashir, have mysteriously disappeared from the court.

The event occurred, while the former strongman of Sudan remains untraceable since the beginning of the war. Kober prison, where he had been held with his men since April 2019, was completely emptied when the clashes began. It was not until April 26th and a major controversy that the army announced that al-Bashir had been transferred, on April 15th, to the Alya military hospital in Khartoum.

Several of Omar al-Bashir’s former collaborators, however, remain free and they multiply their declarations of support for the regular army. For example, Ahmed Haroun, claimed by the International Criminal Court, said he wanted “to take back the country before it is confiscated by a family project supported by the international community”. A reference to the ambitions of General Hemedti and his family.
