The defense and security forces sequestered Ousmane Sonko at his home after he had started a popular “caravan” in southern Senegal. On social networks, the leader of the Pastef party gave his version of the facts. The tension is latent before his judgment for alleged rapes, scheduled for June 1st, 2023.

In Senegal, Ousmane Sonko broke his silence on the night of May 29th to 30th, 2023, after being forcibly brought back to Dakar on May 28th, when he had started a popular “caravan” in the south of the country on the 26th.

The opponent gave his version of the facts on the circumstances of his return to the capital. He says he is “kidnapped” by the defense and security forces at his home in Dakar and once again calls on his supporters to “resistance”.

A passage through Gambia, an Act of “Civil Disobedience”

In this nocturnal declaration, Ousmane Sonko recounts having decided to leave the caravan, at the stage of VĂ©lingara, commune of Casamance, to take the direction of Dakar. “Very early” Sunday morning, he claims to have taken the road with one of his vehicles, via Gambia. An act of “civil disobedience”, according to him, because he is under judicial supervision and therefore does not have the right to leave the territory.

More than 150 or 200 defense and security forces systematically searched Ousmane Sonko and arrested him at Koungheul, on the national road, while he was crossing the border on the Senegalese side. The police took his handgun, for which he claims he has authorization and his two mobile phones.
