Morocco’s important role in bringing Africa and Latin America closer together was highlighted by Morocco’s ambassador to Paraguay, Badreddine Abdelmoumni, at a reception organized by the Moroccan embassy to mark International Africa Day.

The Moroccan diplomat pointed out that Morocco’s role as a “bridge” between the two continents has been growing ever stronger since HM King Mohammed VI visited Latin America in 2004.

Mr. Abdelmoumni emphasized “the decisive role played by Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in promoting the development of Africa, a continent with many assets, particularly in terms of natural resources, population, growth, and geographical position”.

Mr. Abdelmoumni also maintained that recognition of the Moroccan Sahara’s nationality helps to strengthen stability and boost economic and commercial cooperation, pointing out in this context that “countries that have opened consulates general in the southern provinces are in the process of securing a share of the African market”.

The reception was attended by several prominent Paraguayans, including the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Carlos María López López, the economist and former Paraguayan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ruben Ramirez, and the Minister of Culture, Rubén Capdevila Yampey.
