Moroccan globetrotter Othman Zolati Reveals His Adventure in Africa in His Documentary “Africa and I”.

Moroccan globetrotter Othman Zoulati has unveiled part of his 4-year journey from his hometown of El Jadida to South Africa in his documentary “Africa and I”. in his 90-minute documentary “Africa and I”.

The documentary, which won the “Film Festival Pan African” award in Los Angeles, recounts the story of his journey, during which he traveled through 24 African countries, on foot, by bike, and sometimes even on a skateboard.

Othmane Zolati told the press that the idea for this adventure occurred to him at an early age, reflecting his passion for adventure and his influence by documentaries, particularly those relating to travel in African jungles.

Zolati also revealed that his trip was not without its amusing anecdotes and difficulties too. One of the biggest constraints was the lack of logistical and material resources.

The Moroccan adventurer explained that he left Laâyoune with just 800 dirhams in his pocket and a modest camera. As a result, he had to work at various events to earn a little money to support himself.

Mr. Zolati went on to say that he had been infected with malaria three times, adding that he had faced numerous difficulties in obtaining entry visas for many countries on the African continent.

The widely acclaimed documentary “Africa and I” has won numerous awards and distinctions. It was honored as one of the world’s best globetrotters at the Dubai Globetrotter Festival in 2017. Similarly, he received the Adventurer of the Year Award 2018 at the International Travel and Adventure Film Festival in Morocco, as well as the Best Documentary Award at the African American Film Festival, in addition to being nominated at the Cannes Film Festival.

In addition, Mr. Zolati has renewed his determination to make a new documentary entitled ‘Türkiye and I’, in which he will share the unique experience that led him to discover the geography of Türkiye up close.
