The Russian Foreign Minister is visiting Nairobi to discuss trade, humanitarian issues, education, and cooperation within the United Nations, shortly after the visit of his Ukrainian counterpart.

“The UN-Russia memorandum is not implemented at all. We have the opportunity to export agricultural products by passing the framework of this memorandum. But, no doubt, if the UN Secretary-General had succeeded to implement everything he asked for and what is included in the memorandum, the impact on the food and fertilizer markets would be much more positive,” said Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister.

The question of cereals undoubtedly occupied a prominent place during the exchanges between Sergei Lavrov and William Ruto. Kenya facing increased drought which is hampering its agricultural production.

Since the start of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the continent has been increasingly courted by both countries. Russia announces a Russia-Africa summit from July 26th to 29th in Saint Petersburg.
