On Monday in Rabat, Morocco, and Israel signed three cooperation agreements in the field of transportation.

During his working visit to the Kingdom, the Israeli Minister of Transport and Road Safety, Miri Regev, signed agreements with the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohamed Abdeljalil, which focused on maritime transport, mutual recognition of driver’s licenses, and road safety.

The signed agreements consist of two intergovernmental conventions concerning cooperation in the field of maritime transport and mutual recognition of driver’s licenses, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the development of technical cooperation in road safety and sustainable mobility.

“Today, we have signed three agreements concerning the recognition of driver’s licenses, cooperation in maritime transport, and road safety,” stated Minister Regev to the press after the meeting. She also mentioned that it was decided to establish a joint team to address issues related to innovative technologies in transportation, such as intelligent traffic systems, drones, and electric or autonomous vehicles.

Abdeljalil, on his part, highlighted that the visit of the Israeli Minister to Morocco represents an opportunity to promote cooperation between the two countries. He added that both parties will work towards implementing the previously signed agreements as well as the ones signed today.

During the signing of these agreements, the two ministers expressed their satisfaction with the level of development in their relations within a short period. They also expressed their willingness to strengthen and further develop a framework of bilateral cooperation in various areas of common interest.

Discussions also focused on promoting cooperation in the field of railway transportation and high-speed lines, developing airport infrastructure, logistics platforms, and intelligent mobility (traffic management, autonomous vehicles, smart traffic lights, and transport technologies).

The two parties also addressed the development of air frequencies between the two countries to encourage tourism between Morocco and Israel, digitalization in transportation, as well as encouraging the private sector and startups to invest in the field of transportation.
