South Africa: Ramaphosa to visit cholera-stricken Hammanskraal

Following the deadly cholera epidemic in the community of Hammanskraal, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that he will be visiting the region.

Around twenty deaths have been reported in the region. In fact, the death toll has risen to 24: 23 victims are from Hammanskraal, in Gauteng, and one from the Free State.

President Ramaphosa said that given the seriousness of the cholera epidemic, both he and the ministers were deeply concerned.

In addition, the ministers for water and sanitation are dealing with the issue, and the minister for health was also present.

Ramaphosa welcomed the attention given to this issue by the ministers, and announced at the same time that he would be visiting the region to ensure that general attention was being paid.
