Ghana has provided sufficient guarantees for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to consider granting an aid plan to the West African country, the Washington-based financial institution said in a statement on Friday.
The IMF notably welcomed the promise of Ghana’s creditor countries to open negotiations on the country’s debt. This commitment “provides the necessary financing guarantees for the IMF’s board of directors to consider” giving the green light, indicates the managing director of the Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, quoted in the press release.
