A 20-year-old man, Solomon Johnson, has been remanded in custody at the Kirikiri facility in Lagos, Nigeria, on allegations of illegal possession of a firearm. Johnson, who resides in the Ajangbadi area of Lagos, faces charges of conspiracy and unlawful possession of a firearm.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Segun Oke, Johnson was arrested on April 13 by a police patrol team in Ajegunle, Lagos State, with a locally-made double-barrel gun and two live cartridges. Oke further stated that Johnson failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for how he obtained the firearm and cartridges.
During the court hearing, Magistrate Mrs. M. Ayinde declined to hear Johnson’s plea and instead ordered that the case file be duplicated and forwarded to the state Director of Public Prosecutions for advice. The case was subsequently adjourned until May 23 for mention.
