South American man searching for his missing Nigerian father apprehended with cocaine

A South American man identified as Dadda Albert has been arrested at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Nigeria with almost 10kg of cocaine concealed in jumbo-size latex condoms factory packed in perfume bottles.

The suspect reportedly claimed that he left his country, Suriname on April 2 for Sao Paulo, Brazil and from Sao Paulo to Nigeria on Friday, April 7, 2023 on board Qatar Airways flight in search of his long-lost Nigerian father whom he called ‘Omini’.

According to the spokesperson for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Femi Babafemi, the suspect was nabbed a few hours ago, Sunday morning, The arrest was made possible with the agency’s diligence as the narcotic drugs were carefully hidden.

The arrest of the suspect by the NDLEA once again underscores the importance of effective drug control measures. The incident also highlights the need for security agencies to be vigilant and proactive to prevent the illegal trafficking of drugs, especially through airports, in and out of Nigeria.
