In Somalia, the drought has worsened the food situation of citizens, especially the most vulnerable, who find it difficult to break their fast because of soaring prices.

The inflation suffered by the Horn of Africa country is also linked to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, especially since Somalia imports almost 30% of the food consumed in the country. With the drought, farmers are producing less, which is directly contributing to the rising prices of food and other commodities in Somalia.

In the Muslim world, Ramadan is the month of forgiveness, almsgiving, and solidarity.

An imam at the mosque said that we must help the poor and drought-affected people by providing them with food to break their fast.
