On Wednesday, former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated former Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase as the new Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC).
The appointment comes two months after the Senate confirmed him as chairman of the PSC.
Mr. Arase, who retired in 2016, was the 18th Inspector General of Police (IGP).
He served in several capacities, including a position of responsibility in the intelligence unit of the Nigerian Police.
Mr. Arase promised in a press statement that the welfare of the men of the Nigeria Police Force would be a priority for him.
