US Vice President Kamala Harris spoke on Tuesday on her second full day in Ghana as part of her week-long Africa tour.

She expressed from the Black Star Gate, which commemorates Ghana’s independence, her commitment to usher in a new era of partnership with Africa while addressing the challenges and opportunities facing Africa and the United States.

After Ghana, Harris will also visit Tanzania and Zambia.

The Vice President devoted a considerable portion of her speech to innovation and entrepreneurship, to attract US private sector investment to Africa.

On Monday, Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo said in his meeting with Harris that he hoped that this dynamic would change after years of neglect.

Kamala Harris also planned to visit the Cape Coast Castle, where enslaved Africans were shipped to the Americas.

Ms. Harris’ role on this African tour is to minimize the impact and competition from China and Russia on the continent.
