Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni confirmed on Saturday in an exclusive interview with the Russian news agency TASS his participation in the upcoming Russia-Africa summit and economic forum to be held from 26 to 29 July in St. Petersburg.

He said it is a question of political will and the ideology of equality and brotherhood.

During the meeting, Museveni recalled the good relations between Russia and Uganda and especially the cooperation relations, as the ‘Kremlin is a key supplier of military and technological equipment to Uganda’.

Museveni also defended Russia during the recent visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to Uganda, when he said that Russia has been with his country for over 100 years.

Uganda was among 17 African countries that abstained from condemning Russia’s war in Ukraine in a UN vote.

It should be recalled that the 1st edition of the Russia-Africa summit and economic forum was held in 2019, in Sochi under the slogan: ”For peace, security and development”.
