In a tragic incident that has left a community in Niger State reeling, a soldier has reportedly shot and killed three members of a Beninois family in the Babana area of Borgu Local Government Area. According to witnesses, the victims, a man, his wife, and their baby, had traveled to the Babana market from Niganji in the Benin Republic to trade but were shot and killed by the soldier on their way back home.

As news of the incident spreads, tensions are high, but the chairman of the LGA, Alhaji Suleiman Yarima, is appealing for calm. He has assured the people of Babana that the Nigerian Army is taking swift action and that the law will take its course. Yarima has also confirmed that a delegation has been sent to the people of Niganji to console the family of the victims.

Although details about the incident are still emerging, it is clear that the soldier was involved in an argument with the man and that the situation escalated quickly. Witnesses say that the soldier threatened the man with his gun and accidentally shot and killed all three family members.

The tragedy has left many people in the community deeply shaken, and questions are being raised about the conduct of the soldier involved. However, Yarima is urging people to remain calm and not take matters into their own hands.
