Phosphate in Morocco: export Value up 3.8% in January

The Department of Research and Financial Predictions estimates that the value of crude phosphate exports increased by 3.8 percent in January 2023. (DEPF).

According to the DEPF’s most current business report, “For January 2023, the growth in the average export price of crude phosphate, year-over-year, was sustained, driving a gain in the value of its exports by 3.8%.”

However, following a remarkable gain of 159.8 percent a year earlier, overseas sales of phosphate derivatives decreased by 42.8 percent in value by the end of January 2023 due to a combined price and volume effect, according to the same source.

As a result, after increasing by 151.9% the year before, the OCP group’s export turnover decreased by 38.6% by the end of January 2023.

The value of exports classified as “other mining extractions” also increased by 29.2%.
