Senegal: Macky Sall Calls for a National Support Program for Football Clubs

The Senegalese president, Macky Sall, has called on the government and the Minister of Sports to reflect on a national support program for football clubs, to strengthen the treatment of local coaches “who have made their mark”.

Macky Sall, who spoke at the reception at the Palace of the Republic in Dakar, the national football team of under 20 years, winner of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) last Saturday in Egypt.

While expressing his pride and satisfaction with the performance of the African Champion national team, Macky Sall decided to grant each member of the delegation a special bonus of 10 million CFA francs (16,324 dollars).

The president praised the patriotism and discipline with which the players defended their flag, adding that solidarity and fighting spirit were the main keys to success.

Senegal, the African junior champion, will play in the World Cup scheduled to be held in Indonesia next May. The continent will be represented by runners-up Gambia, third-placed Nigeria, and Tunisia.
