Jihadist violence continues in Burkina Faso. Indeed, two attacks perpetrated by jihadists have left 8 people dead, including two Burkinabe employees working for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).

A statement from the NGO said that the MSF vehicle carrying a medical team of four people on the road between Dédougou and Tougan was the target of an armed attack.

The same statement said that two employees were killed and two others fled, adding that the victims were Burkinabe nationals who had been working with the NGO since 2020.

Quoted in the statement, the president of MSF, Isabelle Defourny, denounced this deliberate attack on a humanitarian team in the course of its mission, stressing the indignation of the entire team of the NGO by this assassination.

The NGO also announced the suspension of its activities in the region where the attack took place, stating that there will be an exchange with the parties to the conflict to understand the circumstances of this attack.

After the multiplication of terrorist attacks in the country, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the transitional president, has set himself the objective of “reconquering the territory occupied by these terrorist hordes”.
