The singer Omar Pène, a monument of Senegalese music, is hosting a climate conference this Saturday, February 4, at the Sorbonne University in Paris in front of students and diplomats from the continent.

On tour for his latest album Climat, in which he calls for raising awareness of the risks associated with global warming, Omar Pène presents a conference on the challenges of ecological transition in Africa.

This year, together with RFI, this committed artist, who is celebrating his 50th anniversary, aims to bring out “African voices” on the subject.

“Global warming has become a reality today, especially for us in Africa. Despite being the world’s least polluting continent, Africa is still the hardest hit by the effects of global warming. Indeed there must be African voices to speak about it and I think doing this with students who represent the future for me, right? – is very important to us. Since the beginning of my career, I haven’t stopped talking about it… about Africa, about the problems we face. For me, that’s the path I’ve chosen because I also believe that you shouldn’t give up, that you should always talk about it until solutions are found.”
