Sudan and Chad want to strengthen security at their common border

The President of the Sudanese transition, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and his Chadian counterpart, Mahamat Idriss Déby, expressed on January 29, 2023, in Ndjamena their desire to strengthen the Chad-Sudan mixed force. A force was created in 2005 to patrol the 1,000 kilometers of common borders between the two countries.

On January 29, 2023, a meeting took place between Sudan and Chad. The President of the Sudanese transition, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, was indeed in Ndjamena, where he discussed with his counterpart Mahamat Idriss Déby. It was about diplomacy, economy, and especially security.

The two heads of state have indicated that they want to strengthen the mixed Chad-Sudan force. A force created in 2005 to patrol the 1,000 kilometers of common borders and which has fallen into lethargy in recent years.

They say they want to strengthen exchanges, particularly in terms of information and intelligence between the security services of the two countries, as well as judicial cooperation.
