Congo-Brazzaville: the Congo River at the center of talks between the Minister of Economy and the Chinese ambassador

The Congolese Minister of River Economy and Waterways, Guy Georges Mbacka received on Monday the Chinese ambassador to the Republic of Congo, Ma Fulin in Brazzaville.

The two parties discussed the possibilities of developing cooperation in the field of development around the Congo River, such as tourism on the river, river transport, and the development of sanitary conditions in the surrounding area.

The Congo River has several resources that need to be developed for the benefit of the socio-economic development of Congo-Brazzaville and neighboring countries, such as Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

At the end of his talks, the Chinese ambassador said the meeting was an opportunity to discuss the importance of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), aimed at building infrastructure and transport, adding that the Congo River is the second most powerful river in the world after the Amazon, where the need to develop it based on Chinese cooperation.
