The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has warned of a possible hunger crisis that Nigeria may experience.

According to the United Nations, 25 million people in the West African country may face severe hunger during the current year 2023 if immediate action is not taken.

An analysis of food and nutrition led by the Nigerian government and supported by the United Nations also confirmed that 25 million people are at risk of hunger from June to August 2023.

Previous figures had expected 17 million people to face food insecurity.
