The National Programme for the fight against metabolic diseases and the prevention of non-transmissible diseases gave more than 300 people the benefit of free screening for cardio-metabolic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity on Saturday.

This initiative which marks four years of the presence of the French pharmaceutical laboratory, Biogaran in Côte d’Ivoire is launched in collaboration with the Port-Bouët town hall.

The laboratory aims with this operation to reaffirm its commitment to access to quality care in all countries and to raise awareness of the importance of preventing cardio-metabolic diseases.

The director of international operations, Emmanuel Le Doeuff, said that screening is essential to treat at the earliest diseases such as diabetes and hypertension which killed hundreds of thousands of people in Africa in 2021, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
