Al-Shabaab claims responsibility for the deadly attack in the area adjacent to the headquarters of the capital’s municipality, Mogadishu, which led to an explosion that destroyed nearby buildings, followed by gunfire.

The movement added that its fighters, through its pages on the communication platforms, “made their way into the targeted building after killing the security guards.”

Five civilians were killed and four others were wounded in the attack on the administrative complex in Mogadishu, according to a statement issued by the Somali Ministry of Information.

The statement added that government forces managed to rescue most of the local officials and civilians who were in the compound during the attack, in which six suicide bombers were killed.
