The head of Russian diplomacy Sergei Lavrov took advantage of the official visit of the Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, Apollinaire Joachim Kyélem de Tambèla, on December 9, in Moscow, to confirm the decision to invite the president of the transition of Burkina Faso Ibrahim Traoré, to the next Russia-Africa summit scheduled for July 2023 in St. Petersburg, Russia.

This invitation was made in the name of Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to an interview Kyélem de Tambèla gave to RT France, adding that there is no reason not to respond to this invitation because this visit aims to strengthen ties between Russia and Burkina.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that this second Russia-Africa summit, originally planned for November 2022 and delayed because of the war in Ukraine, will help to enforce “integrated solutions to strengthen trade, economic and investment partnership”.
