Morocco never stops making World Cup history. In rankings alone, Morocco is struggling compared to other African powers. Egypt has won the African Cup of Nations seven times and Cameroon five, but the Atlas Lions have only a small CAN of the 1976 win.

Nigeria made history in 1996 when it became the first (and only) African nation to win the Olympics.

But Morocco continues to tear down the African wall at the World Cup, Atlas Lions are proud to be the first African nation to participate in the 1970 World Cup.

This claim is questionable as Egypt was featured in his 1934 World Cup, However, they are participating in the World Cup as a visiting team as Morocco has qualified for the World Cup in Mexico.

In 1970, Morocco scored its first African goal in a draw with Bulgaria. But the best is yet to come. Four years after Algeria’s historic win over West Germany, Morocco made a bit of history by becoming the first African side to reach the group stage. The Moroccan has drawn England, Poland and Portugal twice and won against Seleção.

Cameroon in 1990, Senegal in 2002 and Ghana in 2010 would do better by reaching the quarter-finals, but Morocco made history again in Qatar, reaching the final quarter of the square. and broke what looked like a glass ceiling. And the Atlas Lions Circuit was a little dizzying as the Moroccans beat Spain and Portugal after leading in groups from Croatia and Belgium. And Morocco is still hoping for a win against the reigning world champions.
