The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has welcomed Russia’s donation of fertilizer stored in European ports and warehouses, which will be shipped to Africa to help the crop losses in the continent and help with humanitarian needs.

The first shipment sent for Malawi via Mozambique from the Netherlands contains 20,000 metric tons of fertilizer.

The first fertiliser series will shipt also ship to numerous other African countries in the coming months.

This initiative aims to ensure unimpeded access to Ukrainian and Russian food and address global food insecurity, and it is a part of an agreement signed on July 22 in Istanbul.
