A report by the Ministry of Interior presented on Tuesday, to the interior committee in the house of representatives by Interior Minister Abdel Wafi Laftit, while presenting the ministry’s draft budget for 2023, shows that the land planted with cannabis decreased to about 80 per cent.

This decrease in the area planted with cannabis came from combating the illegal cultivation of cannabis by the Moroccan authorities.

The land planted with cannabis has moved from 134 thousand hectares in 2003 to about 28 thousand hectares in 2022, according to the Ministry of Interior’s report.

The report added that authorities managed to successfully seize quantities of drugs, including 260 tons of Chira and 225 kilograms of Cocaine.
