The Minister of Tourism, Handicraft, and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatima Zahra Amour revealed during her presentation of a draft sub-budget in the House of Representatives on Monday evening, that the Ministry of Tourism has set a new target to attract 26 million tourists by 2030.

The new tourism road plan aims to double the number of tourists arriving in Morocco to 26 million by 2030, by increasing the flights’ capacities, matching the tourism supply to national and international demand and simulating public and private investment in the sector, especially in entertainment, revitalization and ecotourism.

Morocco managed to recover 76 percent of tourists compared to 60 percent that was before the pandemic, and the sector has begun to recover after the slack, According to the data provided by the Minister of Tourism.

Fatima Al-Zahra Amour described this achieved results as “satisfactory,” Although the tourism activity did not know a real recovery until the last 5 months after the opening of borders.

She added that the tourism statistics during the summer of 2022 “was exceptional”, Where the number of tourists reached 7.7 million at borders, from January to September, which increase by 175% compared to the same period in 2021.
