Unique in the world, where Muslims and Jews, and not only, gather to sing together, listen to each other speak but also debate together, the Festival of Andalusia Atlantics is back for its 18th edition. The grand opening ceremony took place yesterday, Thursday, October 27, 2022, in the presence of many diplomats.
Since its launch, this Festival has been able to pay tribute to the Judeo-Arab musical heritage and make music the unifying link between cultures and peoples. This year, more than 60 musicians from Israel shared the poster with artists from Spain and Morocco, during a Festival.
For Eyal David, Israel’s deputy head of mission in the Kingdom, this meeting illustrates the Moroccan exception: a unique model of coexistence and convergence of civilizations, cultures and religions.
The diplomat also claimed to have been conquered what he saw, what he could hear: a glimpse of emblematic repertoires of Andalusian music, of «chgouri» and of Judeo-Arab Malhoun via songs interpreted and played by the Rawafid orchestra, under the direction of Master Omar Metioui.
