Germany has agreed to pay 408 million Dirhams to support the construction of Morocco’s first green hydrogen plant.

The Moroccan first project of its kind, gathered Moroccan and German officials in Berlin to discuss opportunities for cooperation and to consolidate diplomatic and economic ties between Rabat and Berlin.

This project will be the first industrial plant of its kind in Africa, and it would make Morocco and Germany leaders in the renewable energies sector in Africa, stated the German embassy in Rabat.

The embassy has said also that Morocco has been Germany’s central partner in North Africa and in the Middle East region since the 1950s, as well as a link between the European Union and North Africa.

In addition to Morocco’s green hydrogen project, The German Development Bank has accepted to support Morocco’s social projects with 122 million euros, for generalizing social coverage.
